Smart Surgery: a new era in surgical technology

04 December, 2015

We're seeing a new era of intelligent devices in the OR, providing surgeons with novel, live information and improving accessibility to and delivery of data across diagnostic testing, pre-op planning, intra-operative measurements and post-op monitoring.

 Smart-Surgery

Developments in smart surgery are being enabled by advances in sensor and visualisation technologies, the adoption of novel contrast agents, improvements in the provision of localised power and enhanced infrastructure for wireless communications.

A key area where we are seeing significant opportunity is in real time tissue sensing, which can be used for applications including critical structure detection, tumour tissue visualisation, optimised implant positioning, physiological data overlay, tissue characterisation and monitoring of tissue healing.
