Consumer disposable and smartphone app for consumer engagement

 

Our client wanted to develop a way for consumers to measure their
hair properties at home that was highly accurate, but cheap enough to
be given away as a disposable.

We assessed various options and identified optical smartphone-based
measurements as a solution, developing algorithms and
demonstrating proof-of-principle measurements on a smartphone.
This was supported by performing validation tests against real hair
samples to determine the accuracy and reliability.

Our solution offered a highly precise measurement method using
only a modern smartphone and a cheap, disposable aid. In addition,
smartphone-based measurements offered the client a new platform
for consumer engagement and collection of demographic information.
