We are seeking a Marketing Manager to oversee the marketing for 3 sectors;
1. ICE (Industrial, Chemical and Energy)
2. Consumer
3. Food & Beverage

It’s an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic marketing team in a highly innovative organisation that works at the cutting edge of science and technology.

The successful candidate will have a strong academic background and 5+ years’ marketing experience ideally within a busy marketing team in a B2B organisation, probably in the technology, product, software or professional services sectors.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have a strong background in the Industrial, Chemicals and/or Energy sectors and who understand and can articulate the issues impacting those industries. It is highly likely your activities will include a focus on Sustainability as well as more focused themes such as Energy Transition and the growing AgTech market.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the role will suit a proactive individual who enjoys being a key team member and who is genuinely curious about science and technology and the differences it can make to our world. To be successful in this role, you should want to develop your career in marketing to a senior level and have a breadth of experience including: marketing planning & strategy; messaging and proposition creation; managing and running marketing campaigns; researching and writing content; design; managing budgets. You should also be comfortable interacting with and advising knowledgeable, high-intelligent, articulate colleagues and with subject matter of a scientific and technological nature.

Above all, you should be motivated by a desire to understand our clients’ businesses and how our services help them achieve their objectives. This drives how we position and market our services better and should shape everything that you do. From the 30-word LinkedIn post to the 200-attendee webinar, you should strive for every communication to be as good as you can make it and it should stand out. You will be in a busy environment with competing priorities, this must not affect the quality of your output.

The role can be based in Harston, Cambridge or Epsom, Surrey, and the successful candidate will be happy to travel to the Group’s other UK locations from time to time. The candidate should also expect to travel internationally a few times a year in support of industry events, Covid-19 permitting.

Key Responsibilities:
Marketing planning
Working with Managing Partners, CTOs of relevant sector teams, Head of Marketing and key stakeholders across the businesses to develop annual marketing plans and setting budgets that once agreed, you work to deliver.

Market research
To understand the markets that you operate in you will need to conduct market research and regularly monitor the markets through a range of sources. You will need to understand the topics and trends in each market sector, who our existing and target clients are, what is important to them, and how best to communicate with them.

Proposition creation
Assisting sector teams to articulate new service offerings or propositions for specific markets/issues and help them develop supporting collateral –such as PowerPoint presentations, brochureware and/or website content.

Content production, visual graphics and design support
You will work with internal resources and external agencies to:
o Produce content, visual graphics and generate design ideas.
o Drive the development, creation and delivery process for all marketing communication; articles, whitepapers, blogs, webinars, infographics, videos, animations, branded collateral etc – and help shape the messaging and language involved.
o Ensure that all existing and new content are in line with most recent brand designs, guidelines and templates.

PR and Advertising
Identifying publications for each sector and establishing relationships with editors for opportunities with:
o Forward feature calendars and advertising.
o Editorial and advertorial.
o Access to 3rd party newsletter and eblast.
o Thought leadership and opinion pieces.

Campaigns – support lead generation
Define and deliver campaign plans to a timeline. Working alongside other team members and internal and external stakeholders to deliver marketing activity such as e-shots, events and webinars, content generation, social media, promotion and advertising etc. Provide reporting on completion of the campaign with the marketing technologists.

Event Management
Supported by a Marketing Executive you will be responsible for managing all events across the sectors to ensure that they are not only identified, booked and attended but that we derive maximum value from these events through effective outreach and follow-up activities. You will need to establish relationships with event organisers to negotiate speaker slots, panel opportunities and event sponsorships.

Analytics and reporting
o Weekly reporting on marketing activity to your sector teams and the Head of Marketing.
o Adopting an analytics focused approach to drive content further.

Experience & Qualifications
• Strong academic background with a good degree
• 5 years’ Marketing experience
• CIM qualified or other post-graduate marketing or business qualification
• Interest in technology and science with the ability to understand technical and complex content
• Excellent working use of PowerPoint and Word
• Design knowledge and experience of design packages an advantage
• Good writing skills and attention to detail
• A desire to learn
• Ready and able to exercise initiative
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team with good communication skills
• Good organisational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task and operate effectively and efficiently under pressure in a fast-moving environment
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Ability to prioritise tasks

Desirable experience & qualifications:
• Experience working with Industrial, Chemical or Energy sector and can demonstrate real understanding of these sectors
• Knowledge of Food and Beverage and Consumer sectors would be advantageous
• Good knowledge of social media – particularly LinkedIn
• Familiarity with CRM systems and knowledge of Salesforce is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of the Adobe Suite is an advantage
• Experience of updating websites; Knowledge of WordPress is an advantage
