• We carried out a high-level scan for activity across the industry using
desk-based research.

• After consultation, the client chose one area per topic for an in-depth
study covering:

- Recent advances, developments, and performance

- Current and future research

- Industry capabilities assessment

- Identification of potential gaps/ opportunities

• We produced a ‘heat map’ of activity, highlighting potential areas
of interest for the client. The results of the in-depth topic studies
identified suitable technologies for R&D investment based on the
current industry offering and likely impact of R&D activity.
